Easy DIY Cheesecloth Ghosts for Halloween
These easy DIY cheesecloth ghosts are perfect for all ages and such a fun project for Halloween! I’m all about homemade decorations for the holidays and these ghosts are one of my favorites to make. I have made many of them over the years and I love that no two are exactly alike!
These cheesecloth ghosts are sure to be a crowd pleasure and the best part is they only require a few materials to make them!
Materials for DIY cheesecloth ghosts:
- Cheesecloth
- Mod Podge
- Black felt (for the eyes)
- Glue (I use a hot glue gun)
- Plastic wrap
- Scissors
- Structure materials – I use tin foil and pipe cleaners, but anything to form the structure will work!
How to make DIY cheesecloth ghosts for Halloween:
- Make the ghost structures. I use jars, plastic bottles, or cut up paper towel rolls as the base. Then tape pipe cleaners on the sides for bendable arms if you want the ghosts to hav arms. I use rolled up tin foil to form the head, but you can also use balloons or styrofoam balls.
- Once your structures are made, drape plastic wrap over them. This not only allows the ghosts to be easily removed once dry, but it also allows you to reuse the structures in the future.
- Cut the cheesecloth to fit your structure size.
- In a bowl, make the glue mixture by mixing together 1/2 mod podge and 1/2 water.
- Soak the cheesecloth pieces and wring them out. Drape them over the ghost structures. I do about 2-3 pieces of cheesecloth per ghost depending on the size and how much you want to be able to see through the ghost.
- Let these dry overnight.
- Once dried, carefully remove the ghosts from the structure.
- Finally, take the black felt and cut out eyes, mouth, etc. Glue onto the ghost
